The overall responsibility of the ATL- Laytime Specialist is to calculate Laytime accurately within stipulated time and eventually settle the same, following the fixture’s terms for Demurrage, Detention and Dispatch for all marine shipments executed, maintaining compliance with Bunge values, policies and procedures. The Laytime Specialist will work based on the inputs from the various trading desks, trade execution and maritime freight department, as well as external counterparties.
Main Accountabilities (List 6-8 major areas of responsibilities in order of importance, and purpose of these activities:
- Laytime (Demurrage, Dispatch, Detention) calculation, control and settlement
- Analyze charterparties and voyage documents, clarify events with trade execution and freight departments.
- Invoice customers with full supporting documentation, monitor collection and perform cash application.
- Produce and retain documentation in accordance with internal and external policies and procedures’ requirements!
- Review counterparty claims and disputes and liaise with internal and external counterparties as to the correctness of the calculation.
Additional responsibilities:
- Identify Global Transition Programs under GTE & Lead it successfully.
- Identify ideas for process improvement utilizing industry leading practices.
- Handle exceptions generated, perform root cause analysis to resolve current issues and act proactively to avert potential issues in future.
- Follow the transformation in the Commodity supply chain and help to successfully deploy the platforms like COVANTIS, SEDNA &, GLOBAL SHARE

Responsible for intime calculation and revenue recognition for over 500 Vessels having dollar value of around 20 million dollars in a Bunge FY.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (Measurable outcomes that the position contributes to):
- Control of time bar cases applicable in the charter parties and/or contracts. Ensure zero revenue leakage due to time barred cases.

- Document control (Liaise with agents or vessel operators involved to manage the inflow of required documents). Getting the documents within 5 WD from concerned parties
- Timeline of completion of Laytime calculation

This is individual contributor role but should own at least 2 Value chains for end-to-end laytime ops control and look for career progression as a laytime lead.
Key Relationships, Stakeholders & Interfaces (External & Internal):
This is a role that interacts with trading, freight, Origin execution, controlling, accounting, finance desks across the regions Bunge serves.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies (Identify knowledge and specific technical competencies to accomplish the desired end results. Some examples are licenses & certifications and knowledge and abilities):
- Good knowledge of concepts and procedures related to shipment of trade commodities and related terms & guidelines, including expertise in Letters of credit and shipping documents.
- Ability to provide high quality level of customer service to internal & external stakeholders involved in contract execution & settlement.
- Good understanding of contracts, charter parties and key laytime/demurrage provisions and the terminology associated with the petroleum industry and commercial commodities. (Preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of marine and terminal operations. (Preferred)
- Strong facilitation, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong desire for personal learning and sharing of skills with others.
- Ability to effectively influence and negotiate prudent settlements.
- Experience in managing people and processes through a sustained period of change.
- Excellent computer skills and competency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Education/Experience (Identify types and length of education and experience needed to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to accomplish the desired end results. Some examples are education & training, and years of experience):
- 5-6 years of work experience in a Vessel Ops and Laytime (Knowledge of vessel categories both in Dry Bulk and Tankers), international logistics, freight.
- Computer proficiency (SAP, Analytical tools, MS Office)
- Degree in Business Management, Logistics or related field
