The Extraction Operator is responsible for operating the hexane solvent extraction process at the soybean processing plant in Cairo, IL.

Work schedule: Rotating 12 hour shifts on 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am 

Hourly rate: $27.97

Key Responsibilities: 

• Monitors computers and makes process adjustments as necessary.
• Processes paperwork per department procedures.
• Communicates process and equipment deficiencies with other operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors.
• Assists other operators as needed.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Understands and is able to implement fire suppression procedures.
• Knowledgeable of what to do ahead of time in event of an accident or injury.
• Understands proper start-up/shut-down procedures.
• Operates and monitors extraction equipment.  Performs minor lubrication.
• Maintains standards of cleanliness and housekeeping appropriate for an edible products plant.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance and assists Maintenance staff as necessary to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
• Reports all process interruptions and mechanical problems within team/work unit, with other team/work units i.e. the shift relieving you and supervisors.
• Flexibility to perform whatever work required to accomplish the safe and efficient operation of the plant, to produce the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost, even if not specifically outlined in position description.  Learns other jobs in plant.

Education: 
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Experience in an oil seed processing plant preferred.

Competencies/Knowledge/Skills:

• Mechanical ability, ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to communicate and work with others.
• Must be willing to work overtime when required, weekends, and holidays. 
• Ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Basic computer and mechanical skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
