Position Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, development and construction activities related to Oleochemical processing and support facilities including utilities and packaging.


Involved in designing equipment, understanding unit operations, installing, starting, and supervising projects, from conception to transfer to customer.  Person should have experience with and be capable of managing multi-million dollar projects with little or no direction, covering scope, timing, cost and quality.


Core Functions:

  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades.
  • Working with inside and outside resources during the life cycle of the project.  Preparing detailed Capital funding requests.
  • Reviewing existing data and interfacing on technical issues with others – both internally and externally
  • Preparing and presenting data and reports
  • Developing bid packages, soliciting and analyzing bids and participating in or awarding bids and managing work.
  • Managing the cost and time constraints of projects
  • Managing and assuring workplace safety and delivery of capable assets meeting “customer” needs
  • Selecting, managing and working with contractors
  • Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Project Engineer is responsible for Food Safety and Quality – Follow company Quality Systems and implement Food Safety in the design, change, and execution or projects.


Skills/experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.  Prefer Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in a variety of challenging but related environments performing process, project and manufacturing support in the food, chemical and or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Detail oriented, ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
  • Demonstrated Strong Technical knowledge (mechanical, structural, chemical) with ability to lead and influence. Familiarized with latest Project Management Procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, balancing assertiveness with collaborative spirit.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills in areas of process design, construction, purchasing, scheduling, cost control, start up.
  • Systems Analysis – Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Self-starter, strong interfacing and leadership competencies across a broad spectrum of people and groups.  Ability and experience to lead teams.  Strong project methodology background.
  • Knowledge of design codes and government regulations.
  • Working proficiency with MS office, project and ACAD.
  • Preferred background in food and specifically Oleochemical processing (Refining, Packaging).
