Position Summary:

Primary roles of the Sr. Rail Execution/Operations Analyst are to ensure that 1) Bunge’s North American production facilities receive consistent, reliable and effective railroad service, 2) Bunge’s fleet of over 10,000 railcars is fully utilized at an optimal level and 3) for proposing ongoing, innovative solutions and technological tools to ensure that we are using best in class transportation management technology to achieve these goals.

This position will report directly to the Director of Rail Supply Chain and will also work in conjunction and assist the Sr. Manager of Rail Operations.  The role will also include responsibility for the elaboration, reporting and follow up of several KPI’s related to our fleet, rail logistics and service levels.   The Sr. Rail Execution/Operations Analyst will lead the implementation of corrective actions.

 

Essential Functions:

Will work very closely w/ the logistics and supply chain functions within the value chains, the Sr. Rail Execution/Operation Analyst will be tasked with solutions for:

  • Minimization of empty miles
  • Maximizing car turns
  • Maintaining fleet models for the VC’s
  • Optimizing car weights
  • Tracking and reporting local rail service

Work with Sr. Manager of Rail Operations, Value Chain logistics and plant personnel

Actively engage and maintain participation amongst stakeholders to communicate the importance and maintain "buy in" regarding the processes and KPI's.

Lead and drive the Optimization benefits. Communicate effectively quantifiable value throughout BNA.

Work w/ the plants and VC Supply Chain/Logistics teams to minimize demurrage and unnecessary accessorial charges.

Continually support all plant, VCSC and Logistics personnel (Milling, Oils SC, Packaging, Refinery, Crush etc) for all rail operational issues.

Actively track all claimable/chargeable deviations from rail service to recoup impact on Bunge (lost cars, damaged cars, plant slowdowns/shutdowns etc)

Actively participate in strategic planning process with BU's to ensure that they are aware of potential synergies.

Establish metrics and to subsequently measure actual vs. strategic plan to identify and correct gaps in the planning process.

Participate in analysis and presentation for Supply Chain meetings with BU's, railroads and leasing companies.

 

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Operations or related business discipline preferred
  • 5 to 7 years related experience
  • Generally understanding of commodity markets and risk management for various Grain commodities
  • Ability to understand local and regional freight and market flows
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective analytical skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills required
  • Effective negotiating skills required
  • Relationship building skills and ability to influence others required
  • Ability to lead and implement change
