Position Summary:

The Distribution Sales Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the sales process and relationships between Bunge Loders Croklaan and its key distributions.  This position is also responsible for creating the overall Distribution Strategy that ensures complete coverage of the market to meet the Company’s annual growth and profit targets. 

Core Functions:

  1. Sell packaged specialty oils and shortenings, through Distribution Partners, to medium and large sized food companies.  Emphasis is on palm, soy and canola products, in addition to others as directed.

 

  1. Ensure compliance with all work processes in accordance with Bunge’s safety policies, procedures and culture, including but not limited to driving and customer on-site trials.

 

  1. Work closely with the Distribution Partners to cultivate new business via identification of new projects and opportunities.

 

  1. Execute commercial strategies with direction from the Head of Sales.

 

  1. Drive volume and profit growth through collaborative visits, support, and training for the distribution partners while working to minimize channel conflicts.

 

  1. Account management activities including, but not limited to,
  • Manage contract booking and phasing, and monitor customer pulls
  • Monitor receivables/payment terms ensuring timely payment from customers
  • Executing margin levels with direction from Senior Management
  • Grow relationships across multiple disciplines
  • Increase volume and profitability of the territory
  • Manage pipeline projects and new business launches

 

  1. Collect relevant competitors’ market information to increase market intelligence and identify opportunities.

 

  1. Drive growth through prospecting, collaborative visits, presentations, research and senior management contacts.

 

  1. Secure internal and external resources needed to support and achieve defined distribution business plans.

 

  1. The Distribution Sales Manager is responsible for Food Safety and Quality by understanding and communicating our company Quality and Food Safety Systems.

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in agricultural economics, food science or related science, or Business
  • 7+ years of food industry and customer management experience
  • 2+ years of Distributor management experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive account management experience, selling to food processors.
  • Ability to get things done through others in a collaborative manner to achieve common goals.
  • Must be creative in finding solutions with the help of others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong team commitment and ability to energize and motivate self and others.
  • Financial and business management aptitude.
  • Ability to apply advanced consultative selling skills and large account management understanding to successfully grow sales and profitability.
  • Must demonstrate ability to make decisions and execute in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to plan and develop strategies that support the goals of the business plan.
