Position Details:
This is a temporary summer position reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Warehouse Summer student must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job.
A Day in the Life:
The Warehouse Summer Student position is responsible for performing warehouse services and other duties as required including proper warehouse storage techniques, receiving materials, issuing materials, data entry of materials in computer system (SAP), and operate material handling equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assign storage locations, and enter information into the database.
- Stock all incoming freight and return inventory, track, pick, and package inventory.
- Assigned tasks to include, but not limited to; proper warehousing techniques, performing basic preventive maintenance on stores with standards set forth by the company including new standards as outlined in the company’s total reliability program.
- Maintain a neat and clean warehouse and the cleanliness of mobile equipment.
- Use hand tools on a daily basis such as but not limited to; power tools, wrenches, rigging equipment, banding tools, and pallet/crating equipment.
- Responsible for safely operating simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as but not limited to; forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks and bobcats, including maintaining equipment and maintenance vehicle fuel levels.
- Work from elevated areas such as platforms, one person manlift etc. utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks.
- Maintain recyclable goods and when required transport garbage and recycling from the plant facility to the waste management site.
- Perform accurate and timely administrative duties to include, but not limited to, adding BOMs to SAP, bar coding material, receipt of goods, and input inventory movements in SAP.
- Handling of chemicals when receiving materials for the lab.
- Maintain the order of PO’s and link shipping documents with the PO.
- Maintain all job specific tools and have the ability to pass equipment operation skills training.
- Perform work in a manner that is in compliance with all policies and GMP rules and report any conditions that may put product quality at risk.
- Perform work in a safety conscious manner that is in compliance with all policies and procedures and reports any conditions that pose a safety risk to personnel and/or property.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Good working knowledge of PC applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule and overtime when needed.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Possesses working knowledge of stock part labeling, and rotation of stock
- Must be able to work in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships with other colleagues.
- Must be able to work in varying climates and environment.
- One year Warehouse experience preferred.
- Experience with simple and complex heavy industrial equipment preferred.
