Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Will be responsible for managing Packaging Materials in India.
  • Developing key relationships with suppliers across categories for Pan India operations .
  • Developing relationships with various global & India Business stakeholders
  • This role involves significant team and cross functional interaction as can be expected when implementing a strategy and smart buying initiatives.
  • Understand Global and India Market; Benchmarking prices
  • More than 60% of the direct packaging materials spend.
  • In order to adapt to the dynamic business environment, Procurement needs to be agile to maintain its high-performance track record of delivery to the top and bottom line whilst focusing  Sustainability
  • Work on ERFQ and E auction process for negotiation
  • Drive innovation and deliver on Savings target as per plan.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Act as Packaging Material Buyer e.g. from requirement collection, rate finalization(spot / quarterly) , supplier selection/recommendation, advise price (include minimum order quantity and write off) for business case purpose, to price approval.
  • Source packaging for all localization projects, innovations (local, regional ), artwork changes, savings projects, co-packing, promotional and sampling activities.
  • Drive Sustainability agenda including Post Consumer Recyclable Journey and Collection Roadmap.
  • Review and negotiate quarterly price movement and provide accurate price forecasting.
    Ensure suppliers reliability and compliance to buying specification, sourcing and quality requirements.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned categories, aligning them with business objectives and cost-saving targets.
  • Conduct market research and supplier assessments to identify potential vendors and establish strategic partnerships.
  • Analyze spend data and trends to optimize procurement processes and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Identify ways to reduce costs and take actions that are focused on creating greater efficiencies, economies of scale or better-quality resources.
  • Take a proactive approach to assessing current costs versus market conditions/ benchmarking. Proactively initiate negotiations to reduce costs or secure rebates on existing items.
  • Analysing supply market capacity, import/export economics in raw material supply chain. Developing BCP (business continuity planning) for domestic and imported materials.
  • Lead the contract management process for direct procurement, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. 
  • Develop supplier qualification process to efficiently and effectively onboard new suppliers and achieve sustainable relationships
  • Identify and propose alternate materials to mitigate risk and reduce costs. Work closely with the research & development team and take the lead on implementing alternative materials.
  • Managing supplier relationships, vendor inventory, and purchasing procedures while aligning with supplier standards, budget, and quality. Monitor and improve supplier performance for delivery, price and quality via the vendor scorecard process
  • Work with the quality and SCM teams to coordinate timely disposition and corrective actions for non-conforming / slow moving purchased materials.
  • Focus on system automation through Auto PO / MRP, review reorder, min stock levels regularly.
  • Global interaction with overseas RM, pricing strategy / inputs.
  • Provide up-to-date information on suppliers, costs, quality, and the like that potentially could impact operations or profitability. Work closely with operations and cost estimators.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and develop initiatives to achieve Y-o-Y cost savings.

 

Education, qualifications, special training, experience and skills

 

  • Packaging Material procurement experience of 3-5 yrs must
  • Excellent communication skills and go getter
  • Vendor management Skills
  • Should have worked in SAP / SRM platform
  • Candidate from IIP or equivalent institute will be preferred 
  • Ability to engage with Stakeholders across Region and handle expectation
