Some responsibilities of the Environmental Manager are:

 

  • Carry out the activities marked by the Company.
  • Translate and implement Bunge's environmental standards into effective and practical local processes, procedures, and practices.
  • Develop and monitor the operational control of the environmental management system of the plant considering all vectors / environmental aspects (water, emissions, waste, noise, soil, odours, etc.).
  • Define and plan the controls derived from environmental requirements, significant aspects, and standards of the company.
  • Evaluate compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Carry out the elaboration and update of the environmental risk map of the plant.
  • Identify, evaluate and update the inventory of environmental aspects of the factory.
  • Provide environmental training to the rest of the plant team to train specific skills and behaviours to reduce environmental risk and environmental impact.
  • Perform environmental formalities required by the Competent Administration.
  • Ensure an effective process to report and investigate accidents, incidents, or potential environmental impact situations, support the investigations of the cases and follow up on the actions taken.
  • Develop, update and maintain an effective process to inform the environmental indicators derived from the environmental pyramid.
  • Participate in audits of the environmental and sustainability system and follow up on derivative actions.
  • Defending / overcoming environmental inspections carried out by the Competent Administration.
  • Support / justify CAPEX-environment projects.
  • Actively participate in the environmental groups within the Bunge organization, exchanging environmental best practices.
  • Develop and implement environmental improvements and new initiatives that can strengthen the management system.
  • Control the wastewater and management of water treatment contract.
  • Management of environmental cost center.
  • Support strategic plan development of the facility.
  • Develop and lead initiatives to improve environmental KPI.
  • Identify, evaluate and develop alternative circular economy processes aimed at reducing environmental impacts.
  • Handle the modification/renewal/review procedures of the existing integrated environmental authorization (AIA), preparing the necessary documents and managing relationship with Competent Administration.
  • Manage the ETS system, keeping the relative documentation updated and ensuring compliance with the deadlines set.

 

 

We are looking for different skills in our ideal candidate:

 

  • University degree: senior or technical engineer with a specialty in chemistry or environmental / graduate in chemical or environmental sciences.
  • Experience in ISO 14001 and in environmental position in the production facility (minimum 2 years).
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Italian.
  • Problem solving skills, planning and organization skills, as well as analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skills, able to make decisions and influence others.
  • Relationship and communication capacity.

 

Some other required competencies will be:

 

  • To understand and enforce environmental rules and procedures in order to achieve compliance and effectiveness of them.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment system, as well as the operation of them.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation from European Union, Country and region .
  • Knowledge of legislation related to greenhouse gases (ETS system).
  • Ability to identify, assess and resolve environmental risks.
  • Ability to collect, analyse, monitor and interpretation of process data in a timely and accurate manner to support decision-making at the operational level.
  • Competencies in carrying out and administering environmental audits and inspections.
  • Knowledge of the methodology to be adopted for maintaining the integrated environment/safety management system present in the plant.
  • Knowledge of the environmental legislation, with reference to VIA, AIA, air and water emissions and waste management.
  • Knowledge of the principles of the circular economy and its application to processes.
