Job Summary:

  • To ensure development and appropriate implementation of Quality & Food Safety guidelines & compliance to Quality Assurance & Food Safety standards, thus establishing robust quality operations and systems.
  • Implement Quality Monitoring & improvement plan from Raw Materials to Finished Goods, review quality and food safety incidents and provide corrective and preventive actions.


Roles & Responsibilities

•    Maintain QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme) for Raw Materials process materials, process aids, chemicals, Packing materials and finished goods as per BIS and FSSAI standards.
•    Compliance of all products & packing as per Bunge Specifications and Standards
•    Ensure the Quality & Food Safety Management system in place ( ISO9001, FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal ). Maintain the processes, records, internal audits, external audits.
•    PCRO and packing give away control(by giving daily feed back to manufacturing team)
•    Ensuring Calibration of equipments and standardization of chemicals.
•    Conducting Ring Test between quality officers /plants to ensure repeatability and reproducibility 
•    Ensure the quality of Raw Materials & Packing Materials by conducting regular supplier audits. Supplier ratings on regular basis and share the feedback to procurement team. 
•    Making and circulating quality reports to inform manufacturing team about quality defects for immediate correction.
•    Rework analysis and reduction.
•    Conducting HACCP/ studies and ensure the food safety systems in the organisation.
•    Handling of customer/consumer complaints 
•    Implementing and monitoring GLP, GMP, & Safety systems in Lab 
•    Technical support to Product and Packing R & D for testing, trials, etc. 
•    Evaluation of 2P/3P samples on regular basis with feedback to relevant team
•    Ensure to follow legal metrology ( printing, weights in packs, calibration & stamping on weights and balance )
•    Ensure to follow the process of sample testing as per FSSAI requirements for water, oils, fats, etc. 
•    Coordinate with Regulatory bodies like FSSAI, Weights & measures, AGMARK,etc.
•    Manager the workforce in QA lab.
•    Finalize the department budget, ensure adherence to department budgets and minimize operating costs and overheads operational
•    Ensure the system of new product /new machine start up with risk assessment ( Quality & FS ) with actions. 
•    Respond to critical quality complaints from customers, evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions taken for critical market complaints and ensure that complaints are closed in a timely manner
•    Conduct root cause analysis of the quality related issues/incidents and ensure required countermeasures
•    Allocate work to subordinates, nominate for training as per guidelines, conduct performance reviews and manage leave and overtime to ensure efficiency.
•    Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all subordinates

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
•    QFS levels implementation 
•    Reduction of customer/consumer complaints
•    Internal/External/customer – completion successfully 
•    % Reduction in Cost of Poor Quality
•    Number of vendor quality audits
•    Completion of training man hours for the team (for critical skills)
•    % Cost savings achieved through process improvements

Work Experience
•    Minimum of 8+ years of related experience in Edible oils/Bakery Fats/Process industries in Quality Assurance, ISO systems. 

Qualifications
•     First Class in B.E /B.Tech. Chemical engineering / M.Sc Chemistry

•    Needs to Travel within the country for Auditing, Vendor rating, sourcing, exchange of information, meetings and workshops
•    Complete knowledge of FSSAI/Legal metrology/AGMARK
•    Quality & Food Safety Management System
•    Computer Skills – Must have experience with Microsoft Office programs
•    Knowledge of manufacturing process and internal practices
•    Knowledge of Quality and Process control Tools 
•    5S/Kaizens
