Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operations in the Sanitation department.  Support the Quality Manager in monitoring and improving plant food safety, personnel safety and productivity.

 

Main Accountabilities:

  • Help to lead the department and plant in their Food Safety Culture journey.
  • Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated, and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries. 
  • Oversee Master Sanitation Schedule activities to ensure plant cleaning is efficient and effective.
  • Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. 
  • Support plant inspections and audits and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
  • Approve departmental records.  
  • Report and trouble shoot operations and mechanical issues. 
  • Provide input to the QA Manager and/or Plant Manager to plan activities around shutdowns and maintenance projects.
  • Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance of assigned shift.  Lead team in all training activities in Alchemy.
  • Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the department.
  • Monitor plants testing results and help develop plans to bring the department in line with Plant goals.
  • Participate in the weekly production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the department’s operations activities are aligned. 
  • Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in wet sanitation packaging operations or related and applicable activities.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, and other technical software packages, as needed.
  • Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required.
  • Work Schedule:  Rotating 8-9 hour days, 5-6 days per week to include most weekends.
