Position Summary:
Responsible for managing and/or planning the activities of purchasing, production, transportation, storage, and distribution of products derived from the dry milling of corn that are marketed in Mexico. Manages the supply chain of all products, from order processing to BNA, receiving, storage, dispatch, distribution, and report generation. Works collaboratively with other departments to achieve customer satisfaction. Identifies improvements in logistics processes, such as calculating appropriate inventory levels, analyzing, and defining delivery routes to optimize efficiencies, etc.
Analyzes the development and improvement of internal and external processes to meet company objectives. Conducts logistics studies to assess the financial feasibility of project implementations/alterations, supporting strategic decisions of the organization.
Core Functions:
• Responsible for the logistics process of 135,000 - 150,000 annual tons (purchase - sale) of products related to the corn milling division in Mexico, both bulk and bagged.
• Responsible for the traffic/logistics process to/from 2 sites in Mexico: Querétaro and Guanajuato.
• Responsible for planning all operations involved in the supply chain/distribution of Corn Milling products.
• Develops a strategic plan aligned with the company's objectives.
• Ensures efficient supply to each site for all the products we trade.
• Ensures timely delivery of products requested by customers.
• Controls and reduces operational-logistical costs of the business unit.
• Directs, optimizes, and coordinates order cycles.
• Develops metrics and analyzes data to evaluate the performance of different operations/transportations and implements improvements.
• Responsible for compliance with current laws, regulations, NOMs, NMXs, and SQF code requirements.
• Analyzes distribution procedures of commercial operations.
• Supervises daily activities, anticipates customer requirements, maintains a good relationship with them, and manages the feasibility/viability of new business to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Keeps records of quality, quantity, inventory levels, delivery times, transportation costs, and their efficiency.
• Supervises the performance of the area and implements necessary improvement actions in coordination with other areas (Quality, Production, Sales, etc.).
• Prepares reports and proposes actions together with the sales department to make the supply chain more efficient.
• Coordinates with fleet managers (dry vans, hopper cars, and bulk trailers) to ensure their proper functioning and availability.
• Performs other activities related to their functions as deemed necessary by the accounting/financial department (e.g., inventories).
• Regularly visits different sites (at least once a month) to monitor compliance with company procedures/policies.
• Ensures compliance with and enforces the company's quality policy.
• Manages procurement and planning optimally, i.e., internal logistics.
• Responsible for meeting demand satisfaction under the best service, cost, and quality conditions.
• Controls the implementation of best practices and recommendations from our business partners.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- 2-3 years in a similar position.
- Ability to lead and manage staff (two people from the logistics/supply chain team at the Mill report to this position).
- Knowledge of national shipment and delivery processes.
- Experience in shipping products using trains (Kansas City Southern, Ferromex).
- Proficiency in import/export processes.
- Experience in land and maritime transportation.
- Familiarity with customs regulations, tariff codes, and certificates of origin.
- Relationships with customs agents and forwarders.
- Fleet management (Trailers, Bulk Carriers) - Route planning.
- Decision-making based on analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Adherence to regulations.
- High drive and leadership.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, filters, dynamic charts, etc.).
