In 2004, in order to better serve the large number of farmers and enterprises engaged in aquaculture in China, and to better meet the needs of Chinese consumers for edible oil, Bunge began to invest in setting up soybean processing plants. So far, Bunge China operates six factories, has nearly 1000 employees, and imports about 5 million tons of soybeans and 0.5 million tons of rapeseed each year. Key Responsibilities:
• To provide daily legal support to the Bunge China business. Provide appropriate, prompt, and timely legal advice and recommend paths to the effective resolution of issues.
• To provide legal support to Finance related matters and review related legal documentation.
• Manage disputes and litigations such as contract disputes, labor disputes and administrative proceedings etc., including supporting the GC to manage outside counsel.
• Assess, manage, and prevent legal risks associated with business initiatives, new business models and the changing regulatory environment. Identify and mitigate legal risks;
• Provide counsel on, and manage government inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master of Law degree and China National Bar certificate.
- Supplementary degree or LLM abroad considered an asset.
- A minimum of 8 years Post-Qualified Experience. Preferably to have both private practice experience and In-house counsel experience. Experience and knowledge in Finance related area and Futures is a plus.
- Strong legal and business judgment with an orientation to finding solutions.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, superior negotiation skills, and sound business judgment.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English
