JOB OBJECTIVE: 
Advise Bunge Latin America (BLA) Management team as well as business partners in order to achieve both their strategic and operational objectives, through guidance, training and support in the various activities carried out; managing risks by monitoring compliance adhesion with internal policies through law enforcement. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    Design, Implement, execute and monitor legal activities in order to protect BLA business reputation and interests, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to commercial operation activities.
    Advice and training the BLA Management team of all corporate affairs, considering the potential impacts on business strategy and operation of current and future laws and internal regulations. 
    Develop and implement the adhesion of corporate activities to the policies and practices stipulated by internal and state bodies that dictate the specific laws and regulations. 
    Strategize planning and decision-making at management level for the development and implementation of activities that contribute to the  BLA business´ ABP objectives.
    Align with the GEC team to formalize policies and support their fulfillment by BLA Business.
    Liaise between business partners and BSA, BNA and the Global Legal Team, in updating or modification of activities, as well as new corporate policy development. 
    Recruitment, monitor and manage outside counsel to support the implementation and progress of business activities raised towards the achievement of the objectives of  BLA Business.
    Prepare, review and modify contractual documents-agreements to assist and support various businesses activities. 
    To coordinate with each of the BSA and any of the Global Legal Team experts legal peers the assistance and support to the BLA business. 
    To strategically advise business partners on litigation matters and monitor progress of outstanding litigation. 
    Lead the Anti-corruption, Anti-Money Laundering and Data Privacy corporate strategies to ensure compliance by BLA business.    
    To participate as team member by advising, preparing information and/or any kind of documents, negotiating terms and conditions thereof in key projects for BLA business. 
    Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and development of department staff ensuring an effective and motivated team. 
    Management of the Corporate Governance activities of the Mexican subsidiaries including record keeping, granting and revoking POAS, etc.  

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Law degree.
    Masters in Law or MBA (desirable).
    Bilingual- Spanish / English. Portuguese desirable as well.
    6 to 10 years of experience in similar positions. 
    Knowledge of contractual law, litigations, Intellectual Property and labor law, as well as international commerce, FCPA, and compliance regulations.
    Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience with, laws dealing with commercial contract administration, particularly contract negotiation, preparation and administration.
    General knowledge of finance, tax, economics and court proceedings. 
    Basic understanding of criminal and environmental law.
    Experience/knowledge on the commodities markets (usual trade rules, recurrent issues, etc).    
    Exposure to Maritime Law and shipping related matters (no need to be an expert).    
    Exposure to the Latam markets where we operate (knowledge of our neighborhood)
