Protein Research and Development Manager

Bunge North America, Inc. seeks a full-time Protein Research and Development Manager in St. Louis, MO to lead its specialty protein ingredients technical efforts. Responsibilities include: product, process, and analytic development; translating customer demands into projects; creating innovative solutions that will be tested from bench to pilot and ultimately scaled up at industrial level; managing company  resources (human and infrastructure); collaborating with a variety of internal and external groups such as technology partners, production partners, production plants, marketing, sales, applications, operations and quality; managing the analytical department; guiding the development of new methodologies, prototype characterization, and supporting technical developments from other divisions; supporting new business development; overseeing product design and defining parameters for quality control and quality assurance;   defining product approval/rejection parameters; investigating complaints, validating suppliers, and obtaining certifications, including scientific data generation for regulatory submissions; coordinating with applications group to establish the link between protein and other ingredients, such as oils and carbohydrates, and their interactions in a variety of final products; managing protein innovation researchers and lab technicians globally; securing Company’s intellectual property through patent applications; and managing project execution. 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field and 8 years of experience as a Researcher or related occupation in the protein and edible oils ingredient industry to include 8 years of experience conducting development of new product and processes in a protein and edible oils manufacturing environment; testing ingredients and providing data analysis for regulatory submissions; designing new product concepts and applying technical expertise regarding manufacturing process and intellectual property applications; setting product quality control standards; and creating analytical methodology for new protein and edible oils products.  Send resumes to Alyssa Elledge at alyssa.elledge@bunge.com.
