Overview:

We are looking for an experienced technology leader to join the Product Development team in the Business Technology (BT) organization, participate in the modernization of our technology and drive solution architecture and software engineering of products development in the Cloud. The Head of Solution Architecture and Engineering CoE will be responsible for the development and management of software engineering standards and guidelines, as well as leading the technical solution architecture for products that satisfy business requirements. This role will drive engineering and solution architecture talent access to other practitioners. This role will partner closely with IT Directors and internal stakeholders (both business and BT colleagues – enterprise architects, solution architects, data architects, system integration architects, IT security architects, software engineers, BT partners, delivery managers, product owners) external vendors, and third parties. The role reports to the Head of Product Development in the BT organization.

Essential Functions:

· Set and continuously evolve the mission and vision for the CoE, in line with industry and organization standards

· Coordinate and manage solution architecture, software engineering and technical development talent

· Build and oversee the technical solution architecture of the product suite and ensure the architectural strategy is adhered to across multiple products, across multiple business domains

· Bring a service-oriented approach to BT, resolving technical impediments by engaging in coding to help the product team to develop best-in-class cloud digital solutions

· Embrace modularity and scalability to ensure low total cost of ownership, Identifying and preventing unwanted technical debt

· Establish and articulate a clear vision across the CoE and lead CoE members in efforts to support product owners within BT

· Work with Product Delivery Leads to regularly review resource allocation in the CoE, work with digital leaders to ensure that CoE members are being utilized effectively, and oversee the CoE forecast and budget

· Define professional standards and best practices within the CoE

· Lead day to day management, coaching, guidance, and support of the CoE team, which will include domain focused solution architects, front-end developers, back-end developers, full stack developers, and other engineering talent

· Support product squads in building and decomposing the solution architecture into the product roadmaps well suited for Agile/Scrum framework, optimizing delivery of business value

· Set up interaction and knowledge sharing processes among CoE members assigned to distinct product squads

· Identify, hire, develop, inspire, and retain the best talent

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in an software engineering, computer science, or related technical field

· 10+ years of experience in software engineering and management

· 3+ years of experience in leading solution architecture practice in cloud digital environment

· Demonstrated experience leading architecture decisions at an organizational level, working on programs that span over multiple domains and products

· Proven experience in architecting and implementing enterprise products

· Understanding of architectural and design patterns and modern IT technologies

· Proven track record of delivering results, even when requirements are under-specified or ambiguous

· Experience working in an Agile organization with cross-functional Scrum Digital teams

· Demonstrated understanding of the Agile product lifecycle, infrastructure, and environments

· Strong systems architecture design experience

· Ability to write testable, reusable, high-quality code and build this capability in team members, with proven experience writing code in Java, Python, Go and/or similar languages

· Comfort with advising, mentoring, educating, and influencing diverse teams on topics including Data Management, Integration, Security, Application Design and Solution Architecture

· Strategic and analytical thinking skills

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners
