Position Summary:

The Field Representative will be responsible for conducting commercial, logistical and trading activities associated with grain origination and plant operation.  The Field Representative is also responsible for keeping abreast of the latest rice production issues and assists in evaluating and communicating changing crop and market conditions.  They will serve as a communication link between plant managers and the local rice growers.


Core Functions:

  • Administer paddy rice purchase program and contract all acres and varieties
  • Manage paddy position in coordination with plant operations
  • Perform detailed logistics management and low-cost analysis scenarios for paddy delivery and storage
  • Coordinate harvest activities with growers, truckers and rice dryers
  • Manage redemption process through collection of loan documents
  • Communicate latest rice production information and assist in evaluating market conditions
  • Advise on grower and pool relations as well as overall market intelligence
  • Initiate and respond to customer inquiries regarding grade reporting, accounting, bids, hours, contract status, etc. in a manner that exceeds the customer’s expectations

Skills/Experience Requirements;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, General Business, Finance preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a related field
  • Prior education or experience in business, economics, agriculture, or commodity trading with demonstrated analytical aptitude
  • Must possess the ability to develop a full and thorough knowledge of Bunge’s plant operations, logistics and safety procedures and accounting functions
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, market values, pricing and margin factors, highly preferred
  • Sales knowledge and negotiations skills, working knowledge of cash commodity trading and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) experience desirable
  • Organizational skills and program execution capabilities required.
  • Proficient written and communication skills needed
  • Proficiency with applicable computer software packages, as needed, including Microsoft Word and Excel
