Purpose of the role

Our main objective is to grow and diversify our nutrition business. We commercialize innovations, we enter into new market (segments) and we develop strong connections with existing and with new customers. As our Sales Manager Nutrition Europe, you will play an important role in this exciting challenge by building out our business in the infant formula, sport nutrition and dietary supplement markets, through direct sales and by working with valuable distribution partners.


Grow existing Nutrition Accounts, Acquire Prospects and Collaborate with Distributors and colleagues in the exciting space of plant based, high value, nutritional ingredients.

Grow existing Nutrition Accounts:

    • Develop and drive actionable account plans and draw up commercial proposals
    • Identify and, in collaboration with Application & Technical Support, capture opportunities to diversify our collaboration
    • Monitor and report customer activities, including sales vs. budget, issues, accomplishments, and up-coming events (e.g., tenders, price negotiations, new product formulation development, etc.)
    • Develop and maintain an actual forecast per customer, aligning their demand with our supply capabilities while optimizing stocklevels
    • Coordinate with Sales Support Nutrition to manage the contract book and to monitor customer satisfaction

Acquire Prospects:

  • Develop new Nutrition customers in the infant nutrition, food supplements and sport nutrition segments, following a plan co-developed with the (Global) Nutrition team.

Collaborate with Distributors and Bunge colleagues:

    • Drive and convert opportunities in collaboration with appointed distribution partners
    • Collaborate with other Bunge Commercial Teams where overlap or cross selling opportunities exist
    • Support the Bunge Loders Croklaan Nutrition Commercial Leader EMEA with activities related to key projects for the Nutrition BU in EMEA

We are looking for a sales manager with a high level of customer focus. Someone who is able to think strategically and executes on customer needs, market insights and Bunge capabilities; always aiming to diversify and grow the business. To be successful you need strong planning skills, so you can run multiple projects and/or initiatives at a time by driving alignment across stakeholders, creating plans for the work to be done and delegating work appropriately to balance own and team’s workload. You can work with a sense of independence, while being able to communicate priorities clearly to Bunge Loders Croklaan Nutrition’s senior management team.

Next to this you have a curious mindset, aiming to understand the customers’ needs and to use these insights to create value for the customer. Needless to say you bring the negotiation skills and the ability to present to the customers’ top and middle management.


Additional skills that would add value to the role:

  • Understanding of (and interest in) Nutrition, Life Sciences & Chemistry, to develop technical knowledge of nutrition ingredients and the industry
  • Product development, project management and negotiation skills

Experience & Education

  • 3+ years of experience in a customer facing role
  • Direct customer sales and distribution management experience  
  • Work experience in life science, nutrition, or specialty food ingredients preferred
  • BSc of MSc education in economics, food technology or related
